Position Title: Grant Writer Department: Fundraising and Development
Reports To: Resource Development Director (RDD) Location: Quincy, MA/Hybrid

The Grant Writer will be part of the Resource Development team and work to advance the initiatives of the team and the organization through grant management. This position will research and write new grant applications and manage existing grant relationships. The Grant Writer will work as part of a team in advancing the goals and objectives of the development department and the department’s long-term strategy. This position will also provide additional support to the development team during busy periods including events and end-of-year campaigns.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead the preparation of foundation, state, and federal grant applications, including writing letters of inquiry, concept papers, and proposals
Draft collateral materials for applications, including budgets and other materials
Create a system for tracking the status of grants from inquiry to completion, and ensuring compliance with award requirements and follow up reports
Edit and proofread proposals and attachments prior to submission
Draft foundation correspondence with funders
Work with development assistant to enter grant information into the development database
Maintain grant information and records for reference within the department
Generate acknowledgments and grant reports in a timely manner
Research and identify potential funding sources (foundation, corporate, and government)
Participate in the annual planning process and quality improvement initiatives.
Participate in regular Development team meetings
Perform other duties as assigned
Job Requirements & Skills:
QUALIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Strong written and communication skills
Day-to-day management of grant portfolio, including data collection, reporting, completing action plans, and engaging community partners
Ability to meet deadlines, manage competing priorities, and maintain confidentiality
Strong time management, planning, and organization skills
Demonstrated ability to work effectively on a team and individually to achieve department and organizational goals.
Excellent project management skills to align diverse teams and accomplish the desired outcome.
Knowledge of Microsoft office, including Excel and Google Docs
Ability to think creatively and collaboratively
Detail orientated and highly organized
Strong customer service skills
Sense of humor is a must!
EXPERIENCE and EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or communications, or comparable experience
Experience in nonprofit grant writing
Desire to learn and willingness to take on new challenges
